March 1, 2009
What's Up Lounge
Mankato, Minn.

Set:
| Pay the Toll to Ride the Junebug Flow | Poet (Who Didn't Know It) | Last Night | I'm a Bad MammaJamma (Who Works at Wendy's) | M'Lady | Found My Boogie | Chosen Ones | Clone You |

Tonight's show was the first we've played in Mankato, Minn., with the exception of Nick, whose first show ever was played right there at the What's Up Lounge. Regardless, it was Junebug's first show there. Both Nick and Anthony went to college in Mankato at various times, but this was the first time that I (tony) had ever been to that town.

The What's Up Lounge is located on the second floor, upstairs from a bar. All our gear had to be loaded up the fire escape. It wasn't as bad as it may sound, though.

Well, we didn't even know the order of the lineup when we arrived. I asked the girl who had opened the doors for us, but she hadn't been made aware. After some calls were made, it turned out we were up first, which was kind of a bummer, since we were counting on picking up some of the other bands' fans. As it was, there was a decent enough amount of folks there (and much appreciated), but as our set was closing, more were coming in. Ah well. It's not like we'll never be back.

Anyone who did wait to arrive until later truly missed out. This was a high-octane set, chock full of bangers: a solid rock block. The crowd was diggin' every bit of it. It wasn't really much of a dancing crowd, to be sure, but there was enjoyment being had. Though there was a girl sleeping on one of the couches and one point. But she probably (hopefully) woke up when we played.

All in all, it was a short set, but it was sweet. We look forward to playing in Mankato again, exposing more people to our stuff. Music and/or otherwise.
