It was a garage party thrown for a fella by the name of Nate Mills who is a big fan. He's also getting married soon, so it was a bit of a bachelor party and Junebug was asked to be the entertainment. Josh couldn't make it, so for the first time in over a year, Junebug performed as a three-piece. The night seemed ripe with omens. First of all, Anthony and Tony were in the midst of the Red Rooster Battle of the Two Day Bands. That's not really an omen, but it's worth noting. The other bands scheduled to play the garage party couldn't make it because of a thick snow storm. Then Dustin's car got hit, crumpling a section of his car. Anthony's car slid into a curb, banging up some portion of the wheel to make it crooked. Dustin and Anthony both felt the universe was telling all of us to just go to bed and forget about the world. But we did it and we were glad we did. It was really fun.
Anthony started out the show by declaring it an "all request and dedication show." And boy, he wasn't kidding. We spontaneously threw in a few of our own ideas here and there, but for the most part, we played what people requested - or close do it. Someone asked for Creedence and we played "Sweet Home Alabama" - which we've never played. There were a few instances like that, and many many covers. More covers than we've ever played in one sitting. Anthony made a disclaimer that it was a bit of a loosey goosey performance and Tony made the point that nobody paid to get in, so there were no refunds. Dustin referred to it as the most adventurous Junebug show ever.
Nate, the bachelor man, requested some Weezer, so we played "Say It Ain't So" (which we've only played once in practice) and Nate sang vocals. Sweet.
